Dolores Aguirre

Dolores is Mary's 5th child, born in Oakland, California on May 13th, 1938. She grew up on Myrtle Street in West Oakland and attended Tomkins School. In the early 1950s the family moved to East Oakland at 2000 42nd Avenue and she attended Fremont High School. She married Fidel Lovato and they moved to Inglewood where Rene was born in 1960 and then moved back to Fidel's hometown of Belen, New Mexico, where Steve was born in 1962. The marriage did not work out and she moved back to Oakland where she reacquainted with a high school acquaintance, Eloy Sonny Salas. With Sonny, she had Ross in 1964 and Lisa in 1966.  Tragically, Sonny died in 1970, and Dolores raised her children with the help of her moher, Mary Aguirre, and her siblings. She moved in to the house of her aunt Clara at 2628 East 9th Street in Jingletown in Oakland, right across the street from Mary Help of Christians Church.
